EU equality ministers approve conclusions in favour of greater ‘economic empowerment’ of women

At the Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council (EPSCO) held in Brussels on Tuesday 7 May, the European ministers responsible for equality approved a set of conclusions entitled ‘Economic empowerment and financial independence of women as a pathway to substantive gender equality’. These conclusions, based on a report by the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE), address the issues of financial independence and economic equality for women.
